President Lee Myung-bak arrived in Washington on Monday morning US time for the Korea-United States Summit set for Tuesday.
Following a brief welcoming reception at Andrews Airforce Base President Lee then moved to the Blair House the official state guest house for the US President.
There President Lee was visited by key White House officials who spoke of Washington's plans and options regarding joint tasks with Seoul before the summit talks.

YTN 들어옵니다] "The US Secretary's decisive response to recent inter-Korean issues will form a meaningful starting point for resolving the North Korean issue."
최근 남북관계에서‚ 장관께서 보여준 단호한 모습이 북핵문제 해결의 큰 출발점이 될 것 이다."
President Lee and Secretary Clinton reached a preliminary agreement on Washington's support of President Lee's plan to revive the six-party nuclear talks without North Korea's participation.
This is in line with President Lee's prior suggestion given in an interview with the Wall Street Journal that the five remaining members of the stalled six-party talks should forge ahead with a new denuclearization plan without Pyeongyang's participation for now.
President Lee also sat down with US Secretary of Defense Robert Gates who reaffirmed the Pentagon's continuing commitment to help prevent war on the Korean peninsula both with its conventional weapons and nuclear umbrella.
US Trade Representative Ron Kirk in the meantime agreed to move the pending ratification of the bilateral free trade agreement forward.

] "Visited by key figures of the Obama administration Monday‚ President Lee was briefed on the White House's latest stance regarding pending bilateral issues. At the summit here Tuesday‚ Presidents Lee and Obama plan to iron out differences they may have and produce a blueprint for the future of Seoul-Washington ties"
This will be President Lee's first full-fledged talks with President Obama following his brief one-on-one on the sidelines of the Group of 20 summit in London two months ago.
Following the meeting on Tuesday the two leaders are expected to announce the "Joint Vision" for the future of the Korea-US Alliance.
Amid heightened inter-Korean tensions following Pyeongyang's recent second nuclear test missile launches… and with signs of further provocations on the way the document will likely reaffirm Washington's "extended deterrence" to protect South Korea.
This means that if the North attacks the South with weapons of mass destruction Washington will take retaliatory military action as if its own territory was being attacked.
Experts say… that the summit… will also set the tone for Seoul and Washington's joint strategy to denuclearize the North with President Lee urging for Seoul and Washington taking the lead to hold five-party talks for now.
