With twisted grooves and metallic beats‚ Korea's club scene has long been a haven for a healthy roster of DJs and party-goers.
And the type of music that has been driving clubbers wild these days is none other than electronic music a genre that centers on the beat rather than the melody and produces a dream-like vibe through the repetition of electronic sounds.
Moving away from the now-resolutely commercial hip-hop and pop music genres more clubs in the capital now cater to electronica buffs with regular parties mostly advertised through flyers and word of mouth.

It is not only on the club scene that electronic music is being well-received.
Some electronica composers and groups are making it big in the local album market like an award-winning group called 'House Rulz.'

House Rulz] "On top of the incorporation of different electronic sounds and genres of music‚ we also introduced attention-grabbing elements‚ like the use of the saxophone‚ to entice listeners. We are also releasing a greater number of albums and holding more concerts."
Another group called 'MADmoiselle' that has just released an album online is comprised of two male DJs and two female singers who aim not only to make their music appeal to the general public but also value their electronica roots.

MADmoiselle] "Many musical genres have branched out from electronic music‚ but we aim to deliver our own style of music. The most important thing is not to lose the essence of the music during the process of reinterpreting it."
With two model-like female singers providing visual and auditory stimulation MADmoiselle has attracted a large male fan base while the music organized by veteran DJs has garnered favorable reviews from critics.

Through unique styling‚ innovative musical approaches and mind-blowing visual effects it seems like it could be just a matter of time before Korea becomes the next global electronic music hub.
