Film director Park Chan-wook's latest production "Thirst" has been selected to compete at this year's Cannes Film Festival.
Starring Korea's veteran actor Song Gang-ho playing the role of a priest-turned-vampire the movie will go up against 20 other contenders for the Palme d'Or award.
This will be Mr Park's second invitation to the festival after winning the Grand Prix award in 2004 for his film "Old Boy."

For Mr Song this will be his fourth invitation since 2006.
"Thirst" is preceded by seven other Korean films to have entered the competition including the first by director Im Kwon-taek that is "ChunHyang" in the year 2000.
The 62nd Cannes Film Festival is scheduled to run from May 13th to 24th and "Thirst" will play in theaters April 30th.
