The United Nations Human Rights Council has adopted a resolution urging North Korea to improve its human rights conditions.
The resolution was presented by the European Union during the 10th regular session of the UN agency in Geneva‚ Switzerland and was approved in a 26 to 6 vote. The proposal gave particular concern to "grave and widespread" human rights violations in North Korea‚ especially the use of torture and harsh labor in detention camps against political offenders.
The vote result shows that four more countries were in favor of the resolution compared to last November. South Korea was a co-proposer of the resolution for both sessions.
