North Korea has restored an inter-Korean military hotline and reopened its land border to South Koreans.
Seoul's Unification Ministry‚ in charge of reconciliatory projects with Pyeongyang‚ said the communication line‚ which the North severed last week‚ was reconnected as of 8 a.m. on Saturday.
Pyeongyang also allowed South Korean workers and cargo to travel to the Gaeseong Industrial Complex‚ a joint inter-Korean business area which is located in the North.
North Korea had sealed the only communication channel with Seoul and repeatedly closed down its border this month in protest against South Korea's joint military defense exercise with the United States which concluded on Friday.
