North Korean leader Kim Jong-il conducted an earlier-than-usual reshuffle of his top miliatary brass as the world's media keeps vigil over further indications that the communist country may be gearing up to test-launch an advanced missile.

Experts in Seoul believe North Korea's military shakeup would take place after the country's parliamentary election next month and before the anniversary of the founding of the army in April.
Some experts view the sooner-than-expected reshuffle as part of preparations for the "post-Kim Jong-il era."
But others caution against putting too much significance on the latest reshuffle citing that‚ for example‚ the defense minister's post is not high in the country's chain of power.
The 67 year-old North Korean leader's bill of health and the country's future leadership have become the focus of interest in recent months following a stroke Kim Jong-il is believed to have suffered in August last year.
