Bond is back!
For the 22nd time Agent 007 has arrived on the big screen to save the world in "Quantum of Solace" a direct sequel to the 2006 film "Casino Royale" starring Daniel Craig and his new Russian Bond Girl Camille played by Olga Kurylenko.
Fighting for revenge for the death of Vesper the woman he loved Craig who debuted as the new Bond in "Casino Royale" returns as a raw-er and edgier version compared to the suave and sophisticated portrayals of the fictional super-spy by Pierce Brosnan and Sean Connery.
We see him in jeans‚ drunk‚ and brutally seeking personal revenge meaning there is bound to be more action and less humor.
With a minimum of high-tech gadgetry no invisible cars or wrist-mounted dart guns the film focuses on making the action scenes look more realistic to the extent that audiences feel the impact of every blow to the face‚ bullet to the shoulder and face-first landing.
And moving on to another action-crime thriller this one made in Hong Kong "Connected" is a remake of a Hollywood movie called "Cellular" and is directed by Benny Chan one of Hong Kong's most sought-after directors of action cinema.
The film shot entirely in Hong Kong with Chinese-speaking actors Louis Koo and Barbie Hsu has already topped the box office in its home city.
The film centers on the story of a man who receives a distressing phone call on his cellular phone from a woman held captive in a warehouse asking him to save her and her daughter before it is too late.
Koo and Hsu's scenes were shot separately thoughout the entire film except for a single one toward the end and Chan has added the superb yet perilous elements that Hong Kong action movies are famous for‚ such as human combat and flying cars.
[Interview : Louis Koo‚ Actor CG있음] "There was this one scene where the car is just about to fall off the cliff. To realistically play the part‚ I insisted that I do it myself. I asked director Chan to let me play all the scenes‚ because I trusted my filming crew‚ who I knew were the best."
[Interview : Chung Chi Li‚ Action Director CG있음] "We had no rehearsals. As soon as the camera started rolling‚ we filmed it on the spot. Actors performed with all their might as if they had forgotten about the height and danger of where they were standing. I am glad we could finish such a dangerous shoot without anyone getting hurt."
"Connected" will hit theaters next Thursday.
