No words minimal use of props but rich in facial expressions and body gestures the art of mime is no stranger to Korea.
In fact it's been 20 years since the art form was introduced here.
And Korea Mime 2008 is taking place now presenting more than 20 non-verbal theater works.
Breaking away from the conventional image of_x001b_traditional pantomime where artists wear black with their faces painted white the event hosted by the Korea Mime Council showcases contemporary visual and physical theater in which body‚ movement and image create new theatrical experiences.

] "Mime is a unique genre in its own way.
If a play is like a novel or a long sentence‚ mime is more like a poem rich in symbolism and full of overtones.
Dance is too abstract when compared to mime‚ since mime delivers messages to the audience through subtle movements we see every day."
Yoo stars in the show himself titled "Dream: 2008" exploring the social issues and ideas of a modern world by denoting depression‚ isolation and frustration of a man in his late 40s.
Another mime artist Hyun Daecheoul engages the audience in a more humorous way in "A Warrior and a Teacup" through a mix of wild gestures and dramatic use of silence.
Other programs are also being shown‚ including a bubble and magic show and modern dance performances.
And not far off from here
"Drawing Show" is being staged presenting a live process of how blank canvases turn into masterpieces.
Steering away from the concept of art being static like being displayed on the walls of galleries "Drawing Show" combines the dynamic elements of theater in which the audiences can't help but appreciate the talent of artists as they watch them finish an intricate painting in a flash.
It's not just the speed and accuracy that amazes the audience but the implementation of innovative art techniques using ink‚ charcoal‚ flashlights and marbling.
Mr. Kerri Kim the creator and artistic director behind the show says his pursuit of presenting a whole new paradigm of how to enjoy paintings will not stop here‚ but will continue overseas making inroads into the world market.
