요약정보
Pyeongyang has warned that it will sever all ties to South Korea if the conservative Lee Myung-bak administration maintains what the North calls a hostile stance.
North Korea's state-run newspaper Rodong Sinmun in a commentary published Thursday said if the South continues its confrontational policies towards the North Pyeongyang will have to to make major decisions including a complete break in inter-Korean relations.
The commentary also contends that the Lee administration is undoing the achievements of inter-Korean summits conducted over the past decade.
trampling the 6.15 Joint Declaration and 10.4 Summit Declaration and causing South Korea to retreat to its past dictatorship if those declarations are denied‚ it can only mean confrontation.")
Pyeongyang has been criticizing the Lee administration's delay in implementing agreements made at an inter-Korean summit in October of last year and Pyeongyang has reduced contact with the South.
Further complicating matters a South Korean civilian organization recently dropped anti-Kim Jongil propaganda leaflets into North Korean territory.
Analysts say this could trigger Pyeongyang to suspend or limit remaining inter-Korean activities including joint operation of the Gaeseong industrial complex and a tour of the city.
In bilateral military talks earlier this month Pyeongyang threatened to harm existing inter-Korean projects because of the leaflet activity.
Given Washington's removal of Pyeongyang from the US list of terrorism-sponsoring states last weekend Pyeongyang could now be redirecting its pressure tactics back to South Korea.
Seoul's Unification Ministry says it will monitor the situation and reaffirmed its principle of improving relations through dialogue.
