This time Pyeongyang's deputy prime minister is here for three days for follow-up discussions to set details for joint economic projects.
Kim Duyeon reports.
Talks have opened between the two Koreas to tackle the nitty-gritty of joint economic projects laid out by their leaders at October's summit.
The task falls on the shoulders of South and North Korea's deputy prime ministers.
Over the course of three days here in Seoul they are picking up with the same agenda where their prime ministers left off last month.
On their to-do list is clearing up communications‚ transit and customs issues at a shared industrial park in the North‚ building joint shipyards and helping the communist regime fix up its roads and rails.
At Tuesday's plenary South Korea's Deputy Prime Minister Kwon Okyu highlighted the need to mold a framework so that economic cooperation can branch into various areas.
North Korea's Jon Sunghun ‚ meanwhile‚ stressed that cross-border economic cooperation will "sail smoothly" if the two Koreas "pool their wisdom and strength."
This marks the first inter-Korean economic cooperation committee meeting since October's inter-Korean summit elevated chief delegates to the rank of deputy prime minister.
While the aim here is to push forward desired economic projects‚ some Seoul officials say that one area of discord could be‚ South Korea's hope to cover a number of topics and North Korea's push to stick to the summit declaration.
