Residents of Pyeongtaek have reached an agreement with the government on a compensation package for their relocation.
Opposing the government's plan to expand the US military base there nearly 60 households in Pyeongtaek had refused to relocate leading to building delays.
After marathon negotiations the residents have accepted the government's proposal.
It amounts to compensation for the land and a monthly stipend in exchange for moving out of their town and into nearby housing complexes by the end of March.
Located 60 kilometers south of Seoul‚ Pyeontaek is about an hour's drive from the capital.
