International oil prices hit a new record Wednesday as markets were left reeling from North Korea's missile launches and continued tension from Iran's nuclear program.
On the New York Mercantile Exchange the price for light crude for August delivery jumped a dollar-26 cents to close at a record high 75-19 a barrel.
The previous record was 75-17 on April 21st.
In London Brent crude for August delivery rose a dollar 47 to 73-98.
Analysts say that though news of North Korea's missile tests weren't directly related to the energy market they raised the level of uncertainty.
Lingering tension over Iran's nuclear program also continued to push up oil prices.
