Korea and Mongolia have adopted a joint statement calling for expanded economic cooperation between the two countries.
On day two of his eight-day Asian and Middle East tour‚ President Roh Moo-hyun held an hour-long summit with Mongolian President Nambaryn Enkhbayar in Ulaan Baatar.
It's been 16 years since the two countries established formal diplomatic ties.
However the volume of bilateral trade and investment has not grown significantly over that period with Korea's exports to Mongolia last year amounting to just 72 million U.S. dollars.
Through the joint statement‚ however the leaders of the two countries are seeking to expand that amount of trade by combining Mongolia's abundant natural resources with Korea's advanced technological products and services.
