The Korean team of prosecutors‚ investigating the disgraced cloning expert Hwang Woo-suk is trying to recover computer data that may clarify who was involved in the stem cell fabrication.
Investigators confiscated a laptop computer from one of Dr. Hwang's senior researchers‚ hoping its contents would shed light on the stem cell fiasco.
Prosecutors have recovered over 300 deleted files from a computer hard-drive‚ which contains detailed laboratory notes‚ dating back to 2004.
That was the year‚ Dr. Hwang shot to international stardom‚ for claiming to have cloned the world's first human embryonic stem cells.
The prosecution team is now trying to restore another 70 files that were found to have been deliberately erased.
