The winds of change were felt on Wednesday when Pope Francis emphasized the importance of women in the Roman Catholic Church‚ signaling an openness to women not often seen in the church hierarchy.

Just last week‚ Pope Francis became the first pontiff to wash the feet of women followers during a traditional foot-washing ritual.
This left many traditionalists worried that he might one day be willing to ordain women as priests‚.. but that doesn't seem likely to happen soon.
Still‚ with the pope having emphasized the importance of women in the Church‚ all eyes are on whether the Vatican will begin to actually give more women a greater voice in decision-making.. and leadership positions.. within the church ministry.
