Social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook are playing a crucial role in uniting thousands of young Russians for street protests.
A recent rally attracted around 5-thousand people to the streets to protest against what they perceive as a fraudulent result of the recent Parliamentary elections.
It was the biggest protest in the last decade in Russia‚ as there were rarely more than 200 people rallying against Putin's rule since the year 2000.
And even then‚ most of the protesters were Soviet-era dissidents and activists in marginalized opposition groups.

The youths involved were prompted to join the protest by amateur videos and online testimonies documenting cases of ballot-stuffing and repeat voting.
Blogs‚ Facebook updates and numerous tweets were coming from election observers‚ ordinary voters‚ journalists as well as popular bloggers.
Christmas is a much anticipated day for everyone‚ including the animals at the Buenos Aires Zoo.
And Christmas comes a bit earlier in Argentina‚ December 8th is considered a national holiday in honor of the Virgin Mary.
Already a festive mood is brewing‚ complete with Christmas tees and gifts.
The zoo family members were delighted to find some excellent food items stuffed in stockings awaiting them.
Sasha and Kagu the chimpanzee duo of mother and daughter enjoyed their fruits and gifts.
Riano‚ a 5-year-old Bengal tiger with a big appetite sank its teeth and nails into balls stuffed with meat.

An Orangutan named Sandra also saw some action‚ as she pulled bananas and other favorite fruits out of a stocking.
Christmas is around the corner‚ so it's natural to see carol singers all around.
But one group in particular was out on a mission.
Pensioners and savers disgruntled at Britain's record low interest rates sang carols in protest outside the Bank of England.
There was no goodwill towards central banker Mervyn King.
The team that call themselves the Save Our Savers group performed reworked renditions of "Jingle Bells" and "We Wish You a Merry Christmas."
All done in protest at rising inflation and interest rates kept too low.
For nearly 3 years‚ the Bank of England managed to keep incredibly low interest rates and this allowed inflation to run out of control.
Britain's inflation rate remains high at around 5 percent‚ driven mainly by energy costs.
Save our Savers group hopes to change government attitude with their campaigns.
