[Reporter : ] There's no denying Japan's fascination with robots.
A lot of fictional robotic creations have firmly established themselves as icons of the country.
That's right‚ and I think their love for robots went beyond animation and toys.
A lot of Japanese scientists and inventors dedicate their lives to creating functional robots.
[Reporter : ] In the past‚ robots were normally tasked with difficult chores or jobs humans would like to avoid.
But I hear that their latest creations are designed to do more than just heavy lifting.
They are becoming more human.
[Reporter : ] Behold a robot that sings‚ picks strawberries‚ made from using recycled shelf computer parts.
There will always be surprises in store for visitors to the latest robot fair in Japan.
And the latest event to wow the crowd was the Robotech Expo of Tokyo.
The standout AI of this year's event was the singing robot.
Created by Hideyuki Sawada‚ the robot with a voice-box sings "Kagome Kagome."
What makes this robot different from the vocal ones of the past Over in Taiwan‚ one company actually found a new way to re-use waste coffee grounds.
Sintex Technical Fabric has developed a technology to turn this by-product into a versatile fabric.
Using 22-years of experience in creating outdoor and sportswear‚ this textile company adds two percent of coffee ground nano-particles to yarn‚ nylon or other materials to increase its functionality.
The brains behind this operation is Jason Chen.
He credits his wife for providing him with the idea.
Seeing how she used waste coffee ground to reduce bad odor in the fridge‚ he decided to explore other possibilities.
3 and a half years‚ 8 major modifications and more than 1.7 million US dollar in investments later the first coffee-fabric was born.
The item actually controls odor‚ blocks harmful ultraviolet rays‚ reduces harm to the environment‚ absorbs water and dries fast.
Jason isn't done yet.
He is currently working on ways to use waste tea leaves for his next line of apparels.
There are several nature reserves where lakes and wetlands are home to some 40-thousand migratory birds in Tibet.
One that stands out is the Qinghai-Tibet railroad.
Even after the railway was opened‚ the number of bird islands and birds there has remained stable.
Other than birds‚ more than 100 species of rare wild animals live in the nature reserves along this railroad line.
This is thanks in no small parts to wildlife protectors who regularly patrol the islands.
To these hard working individuals‚ their protection posts are treated as their second home.
Summer‚ when many birds come to the islands to breed is when these protectors are kept busiest.
Wild animals live normal lives in most regions in Tibet.
It is one of the very few countries in the world where man and nature live in harmony.
