[Reporter : ] Age is no object when one is driven by pure passion.
Some senior citizens in Brazil are learning the truth in this notion by boldly taking up a new musical hobby.
Over the past year‚ there have been several senior citizens from various parts of the world who made headlines with their deejaying prowess.
And in the land of the Bossa Nova‚ a school dedicated to guiding such music enthusiasts who have rekindled their flame for parties and nightclubs has opened.
62-year-old Nilson Cotrim is an electrician by day and moonlights spinning turntables.
Having led this double life for four years‚ he was looking to hone his skills further but had trouble finding the right school.
Thanks to Lisa Bueno‚ a deejaying school for the elderly aptly named "I'm no granny‚ I'm a DJ" opened in Sao Paulo.
According to Bueno‚ senior citizens who are used to club music like hip-hop learn fast‚ while those who are more used to grooving to other genres such as jazz‚ need to be given the right CDs to listen to‚ so that they can familiarize themselves with some new tunes.
A team of Peruvian archeologists led by Carlos del Carpio discovered a 12-hundred-year-old tomb.
The discovery of this Sican tomb is considered a miracle by many experts‚ as the burial site wasn't damaged by the nearby river or the bulldozers working on its surroundings.
Various luxurious objects that were reserved only to high-ranked elites of that era were found in the burial site‚ proving that the owner of the tomb could be a nobleman or a top government official of the Sican culture.
The director of the Sican National Museum‚ Carlos Elera asked the government to declare a state of emergency in the discovery area‚ so that the team can protect the zone before the river's flooding season begins.
A competition that dares students to come up with new and innovative ideas to solve sustainability issues was held in New Zealand.
The sustainability challenge‚ funded by the Ministry for the Environment provided an opportunity for the brilliant minds of Massey University and Victoria University to shine.
The team comprised of students from both universities worked on regenerative architecture ideas and came up with the "plant room."
This sun-room type box that can be fitted onto urban apartments provides a solution to living better while using less energy.
Their invention collects rainwater and uses the stored water in the tank to feed the plants in the house.
When the sun shines‚ it will heat water on the roof of the plant room and this water can be used for various purposes including shower.
The invention allows one to lead a more sustainable life without having to tear down walls‚ and the cost of installing it willl be as affordable as renovating a kitchen.
