It was women's day in the United States primary elections with two former women CEOs stepping up as winners and garnering significant attention.
Meg Whitman and Carly Fiorina emerged front and center in Tuesday's primaries.
Meg Whitman‚ who was CEO of eBay was nominated as Republican candidate for governor of California.
She vowed to bring a new golden era for the Golden State which is currently bombarded with a high budget deficit and unemployment rate.
Another woman from Silicon Valley‚ Carly Fiorina was also in the spotlight as she won the party's nomination for a senate seat for California.
The former head of Hewlett-Packard‚ Fiorina will face a tight race against incumbent Democrat Senator Barbara Boxer in November.
Believing that the former women executives can win the hearts of voters with their vast business experience the Republicans have high hopes for success in the mid-term election.
As the November mid-term election is viewed by many as a referendum on Obama's presidency analysts say that another fierce competition between the Republicans and Democrats is likely.
