The purpose of this project‚ which is funded by the governments of Oman and Singapore‚ is to reconstruct an ancient Arab ship whose ruins were discovered in 1998.
The sailors will use ninth century Arab navigation techniques‚ including the use of ancient latitude calculating instruments and also using the sun‚ stars‚ sea color‚ wind direction and marine and bird life to determine their course.
