[Reporter : ] From rice‚ sand‚ sewing thread to even fly wings.
54-year-old artist Chen Forng Shean of Taiwan fully utilizes his good eyesight‚ concentration and endurance to create miniature art pieces.
The latest of his artwork is what he claims to be the world's smallest tiger sculpture.
The resin tiger sculpture is 0.12 cm long‚ 0.06 cm wide and 0.1cm tall‚ or approximately one tenth the size of a grain of rice.
It is only visible through a magnifying glass‚ just like many other miniature works created by Chan.
The artist works as a money printing plate designer for Taiwan's Central Engraving and Printing Plant by day‚ and works on his miniature marvels in a small studio in the evenings.
It took him three months and more than ten failures to complete the tiny tiger.
Other than technique and specialized tools‚ what's most important in creating the miniature pieces is breathing.
Chan's tiger is created in time for the upcoming Chinese New Year‚ to scare away bad fortunes and bring blessings to Taiwan.
Top athletes around the world are getting ready for the biggest quadrennial winter sporting event‚ the Vancouver Winter Olympics.
While top performing countries such as Germany‚ the US and Canada are aiming to bag more gold‚ Japan which will send 188 athletes to Vancouver is hoping to win at least more than the single gold medal they won in the 2006 Winter Olympics.
Figure skater Mao Asada is Japan's best hopes of winning gold.
However she'll face her toughest challenge in South Korean figure skating goddess Kim Yu-na.
Meanwhile‚ Italy‚ government officials hosted a farewell ceremony for Italian athletes going for gold in Vancouver.
Athletes such as figure skater Carolina Kostner and more‚ are expected to help Italy win more than the 11 medals won back in 2006 in Turin.
The event will kick start with the opening ceremony‚ which will be held on February 12th.
In Kigali‚ Rwanda‚ yoga is proving its effectiveness in helping trauma victims heal.
The 1994 genocide in Rwanda‚ where Hutu Militia and soldiers slaughtered 800 thousand people in just 100 days left its survivors with permanent scars.
Many of them are suffering from post traumatic stress as they saw families and friends brutally slaughtered before their very own eyes.
Although they tried a variety of treatment to help overcome their trauma nothing seemed to help.
Thankfully‚ Deidre Summerbell and her AIR project‚ started in 2007 to teach yoga to people affected by post traumatic stress is helping such victims regain mental and emotional health.
Around 40 people‚ mostly women‚ attend her class to overcome such problems and more.
The successful implementation of Yoga as a form of therapy has inspired Summerbell to expand yoga training in other parts of Rwanda‚ where around 28 percent of its population is said to be still suffering from various stress related traumatic disorders.
