요약정보
It's not quite as aggressive as Canada's favorite sport of ice hockey‚ but the World Santa Curling Championships do help the men in red get a good warm-up before their global delivery service begins on Christmas.
Players from England‚ Canada and Scotland‚ dressed in Santa outfits‚ gathered to compete for curling fame in Turnbridge Wells‚ England.
For those that are unfamiliar with curling‚ it is a very sociable sport that also requires quite a bit of strategy.
Participants were of various skill levels‚ ranging from beginner to expert‚ and they were all treated to mulled wine.
The winner that took everyone by surprise was a Mrs. Santa Claus by the name of Elizabeth Atkinson‚ from Canada.
She won the trophy‚ and of course‚ the bragging rights for next year's competition.
The Museum of Libya‚ located in Tripoli‚ recently opened to provide visitors with educational and entertaining ways to learn about Libya's history and culture.
The beautiful People's Palace‚ which was originally intended to be the residence of the Italian Governor of Libya‚ was chosen as the location for the museum‚ in order to add to the venue's appeal.
Other than marveling at centuries-old‚ prehistoric Phoenician and Roman artifacts‚ visitors can browse interactive maps‚ watch films about Libya's historical chapters‚ and take part in a number of multimedia displays‚ designed enhance the educational and cultural experience.
Also on display are traditional hand-woven carpets‚ musical instruments and photographs showing traditional Libyan architectural designs.
Two giant pandas made their debut before adoring visitors at the Adelaide Zoo in South Australia.
Four-year-old male‚ Wang Wang‚ and three-year-old female‚ Fu Ni‚ were moved from their old home at the Giant Panda Protection and Research Center in Sichuan province‚ to their new home in Australia‚ to become the first giant pandas to live in the southern hemisphere.
The pair have been loaned to the zoo‚ for a 10-year period‚ for research purposes‚ in a deal between China and Australia.
Many are hoping that the two bears‚ who will reach full sexual maturity in a few years‚ will breed during their stay.
Giant Pandas‚ which are an endangered species‚ are found wild only in China.
These two have been sent to Australia as part of a goodwill gesture‚ to help ease diplomatic tensions between the two countries.
Judging by the power of past instances of 'panda diplomacy'‚ the goodwill bears will do their part in repairing the rift.
