U.N. Secretary-General Ban Kimoon has expressed hope that the latest agreements reached between the two Koreas will contribute to peace and stability in the world.
Ban spoke on the phone Thursday with President Roh Moohyun who reported the results of his meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong il to Mr. Ban.
President Roh said he confirmed North Koreas commitment to a denuclearized Korean Peninsula during the summit talks.
Before taking the helm at the United Nations‚ Mr. Ban served as Seoul's foreign minister.
The Secretary-General has promised global support for peace and prosperity of the two Koreas.
