Happy Friday everyone and thank you for joining us on World Sports‚ I'm Kim Young.
The weekend is right in front of us and plenty of action lies ahead‚ first let's get an update on the event everyone is talking about‚ the US Open.
Argentine Juan Martin Del Potro made it to his second grand slam semi-final after a victory over Croatian Marin Cilic who was actually on a roll.
The overall performance of Del Potro was above the Croatian as Cilic had 53 unforced errors while Del Potro only had 24.
The Argentine is one of the tour's hottest players and coverted all eight of his break-point opportunities.
Del Potro will face the winner of the match between Rafael Nadal and Fernando Gonzalez.
Roger Federer will be in the other semi-final against Novak Djokovic in the year's final grand slam tournament.
At the BMW Championship in Lamont‚ Illinois‚ Rory Sabbatini and Steve Marino got off to a great start after they both shot a five under 66.
Following close behind is Marc Leishman and Bo Van.
Number one ranked golfer and obviously a crowd favorite‚ Tiger Woods played a good game of golf along with Padraig Harrington and finished the first round with a 68.
This is the third FedEx Cup playoff event consisting of a field of the top 70 players in the points race.
After this event‚ the field will be cut down to the top 30 for the Tour Championship in two weeks and after that‚ the FedEx Cup champ is crowned.
The International Association of Athletics Federations is poised to disqualify Caster Semenya after a gender test proved she or he has both sexual organs.
Through the IAAF testing‚ Semenya has no womb or ovaries and carries both male and female sexual organs.
She has internal testes and three times the amount of testosterone that a normal female would have.
The governing body has not decided whether they will strip Semenya of her gold medal in Berlin but advised her to seek immediate surgery because of potential health risks.
After FIFA banned Chelsea from the next two transfer windows over their signing of Gael Kakuta‚ there are allegations from Le Havre that Manchester illegally poached the French midfielder Paul Pogba.
Alex Ferguson defended his club and said Manchester is under fire because it is the biggest club and the people making these accusations have no foundation or knowledge of this situation.
Ferguson also said paying a parent in a transfer deal would be the biggest headache you could ever have.
Manchester is to face Tottenham Hotspur‚ the team that has made it's best start to a season for 49 years and sits with Chelsea at the top of the table.
Yesterday‚ Arnold Palmer celebrated his 80th birthday and it does seem that age is nothing but a number.
Vintage racing driver Stirling Moss is still on the track as he nears his 80th.
Moss had his heyday in the 50s and 60s‚ one of the biggest names in racing history and the most amazing thing is that he still races to this very day‚ with the energy of a man decades younger.
